We returned to Perth & Lancelin for three weeks of fabulous windsurfing and great hospitality.
WA Freeride & Freewave clinics!
With the world’s elite windsurfers and sailors descending upon Perth for the ISAF Worlds, it was inevitable that the Seabreaze (also known as the Freemantle Doctor) might throw up a few surprises. So for our first WINDWISE Freeride clinic (in the Swan River) we saw unusual Easterly winds. So with some earlier than normal starts to catch the morning wind, we grabbed enough planing conditions and decent time on the water to really get to work on a whole host of core Freeride skills – tidying up transitions, early planing, corners and a heap of skills training. We then made our way North to Lancelin, where we ran two WINDWISE Freewave clinics. And whilst Perth was suffering from even stranger wind patterns and weather storms, we were blessed with great conditions, with Lano delivering 8 days of planing conditions 4.5-5.7m sails! We had a mix of swell and flat-water sessions that enabled us to work every moment on the water - running through faster gybes, tacks, smoother wave riding, jumping, looping and a whole lot more. We then made our way back south to Safety Bay, where we ran our last Freeride course to finish off three great weeks of windsurfing.
As ever, I’d like to thank everyone who joined the clinics for their enthusiasm, energy and support. I hope that the success you had and the feedback you gave will ensure you can use your new skills throughout the season. I also look forward to another session in the future to keep the momentum going and take everything to the next level! In the mean time, LOOK, LEAN & LEVER!
Finally a special thanks to Jez at Second Wind for the loan of kit and fabulous Pizza’s, Werner (Lancelin board rental centre) for the most reliable wind forecasts and to our hosts in Lano, the ever hospitable, Lancelin Lodge. Also to the generosity of Daren for the truck, John for the van, Mark for the best B&B in Perth and to everyone else who made the trip so successful.
Already planning a return in winter 2012/13, so get on our list to make sure you grab one of our limited places.
