FIRST RACE 1PM TODAY!

The scene is set for the final race of RSX Olympic windsurfing here in Weymouth.

In the men's the Gold is already won by the dominant Dorian Van Rijssleberge NED, so the big fight is on for silver. Nick Dempsey is well in contention being 11 points ahead of the German in Bronze medal position. So if Nick can win silver today, he will better his bronze from Athens and overcome his disappointment of 4th in Beijing. In the women's Marina Alabau is within touching distance of Gold, Team GB's Bryony Shaw is only 11 points away from bronze, but has four other sailors between her and that elusive prize. So yes there's a mathematical possibility to match her bronze medal from Beijing, but it remains a distant hope. Yet medal races can throw up surprises as the result counts as double points. So you have to make sure you sail the race of your life or you can see precious metal slip through your fingers.

The weather forecast is SW 12 Knots, possibly increasing slightly later, so hopefully we'll see more planing racing.

The Nothe course is a cauldron of shifts, gusts and close to shore racing. With only ten competitors on the shortened start line, it becomes a tense tight battle of the boards! Getting a good start is ever more important in the medal race.

In Nick's camp they are well rehearsed, experienced and go into today needing to sail a solid race, if Nick can finish in the top five, he should secure silver. For Bryony, she has to pretty much win her race and hope those closest to her, have a nightmare on the Nothe.
