Daymer Bay Adventure Sept 2020

Tue 1st September 2020 to Wed 30th September 2020

Daymer Freewave Mid Sept 2020

Our September Daymer Bay Adventure is a windsurfing adventure-course designed to offer both flat water Freeriding, intro-to-wave experiences and give you a fabulous windsurfing in Cornwall. It's the perfect way to get to Cornwall, explore new windsurfing venues, develop your windsurfing skills and learn how to get into sea and wave sailing. We also do our skills training whilst on an adventure. So it's not uncommon to say do a load of taking practice heading upwind with the tide, stop for lunch and then do gybes heading downwind on the tide. We seek to give you the best coaching and see the local area!

We will shortly be announcing dates for our 2020 Daymer & Cornwall Sessions - go get on the list to get first shout as they fill up very quickly! As ever, any questions let us know  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Yes also we're going to add another 'Summer Freeride Adventure' to Daymer and the surrounding area. This experience is a superb opportunity to get Windwise coaching with guiding for sailing at Daymer and local beaches. You will develop your windsurfing and learn how and where to sail in Cornwall. The priority is windsurfing, but we will also go optional biking, WindSUPing, surfing and loads more adventures to enjoy Cornwall to the full!

Beautiful location, great windsurfing, surfing, SUPing, biking, pubs and accommodation with pool, jacuzzi & tennis courts - it's the perfect long weekend!

Who's it for?

If you would like to go windsurfing in Cornwall and aren't sure where to go and want guidance on tides, launching, locations and get your Freeride and Wave technique to flourish, then this WINDWISE Cornwall experience offers all that and whole lot more!

Course Criteria: Only come on this course if you're keen to develop your windsurfing, but still happy to have an adventure regardless of the conditions, as this trip goes ahead regardless of conditions and we make it a really fabulous time. So for instance if the wind is light we'll do

The Holiday & Coaching

The aim is to immerse ourselves for four days in great locations, windsurf and introduce you to wave sailing skills and wave environments. Daymer offers both flat water and waves, so it is the perfect location to dip your toe into the wave scene. We cover choosing the right spots, tide times, Freeride skills and also encountering waves, jumping, riding and any other aspect of the sport! If the wind is light, then we'll either do WindSUPing, surfing, biking and still have a great time! We've been doing these West Country trips for nearly ten years and they are always popular, memorable and eventful sessions with a great bunch of windsurfers.

Course criteria Sept Freewave: You must be able to waterstart and wind or no wind - be up for a great adventure!

Course criteria July Freeride: You must be able to waterstart and wind or no wind - be up for a great adventure!

Cornwall Adventure Ethos

We have done these West Country trips for about 10 years and whilst windsurfing is our primary aim, the trip goes ahead regardless of conditions. So if the wind isn't on our side, we'll do a mix of light wind skills and drills, but we'll also add in other locals activities (SUPing, biking, surfing and more!) to make sure we have an active adventure. Regardless of conditions, this trip goes ahead, so take all the toys! So as well as the windsurfing expect amazing country pubs, wine tasting, surfing, WindSUPing adventures, biking, hiking, BBQ's and a few surprises along the way!

We've done some amazing skills training sessions on the in going tide up the Camel Estuary, lunch in Rock and then Skills Training back to Daymer. Progression through adventure!

Optional Accommodation

The optional accommodation is in really decent quality self catering houses in a really great cottage complex which has with a fabulous swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, tennis courts and BBQ's. We book 2-3 cottages. They're a 15 mins from Daymer and they act as a great base for post sail de-brief, team talks, video playback, communal breakfasts, our annual 'cook off' and a short walk to a fabulous pub! Plus we have some great local contacts to make the best of the location.

Single Room option in shared house: £165 per person

Shared Room option in shared house: £135 per person

If you don't have someone to share with we can try and find a Windwise 'room mate' for you. If not it will have to be a single room option.

We settle up with accommodation closer to the course, but let us know what accommodation you'd prefer.

What should I take?

All your main windsurfing kit, but no large camber induced sails allowed:)
So ideally bring a wave board and larger Freestyle Wave/Freemove board 100-120L, so you have something with volume.

Definitely bring a WindSUP (if you have one) or beg, borrow or hire one as they are super useful for this trip.
Any issues with that, let us know. Don't worry about bringing 7m+ rigs, if the wind is marginal we tend to try to do wave skills on WindSUP's rather than big sail blasting. But if you have room, by all means bring the large Freeride board.

Toys & Other Activities

If you have space bring a mountain bike and it's not uncommon to bring a bottle of wine with a story linked to it! Onsite there's a swimming pool, gym, sauna, fab games room and tennis. Locally there's surfing and biking, so bring any other toys if that's your thing.

Food etc

Bring your initial breakfast, cereal milk etc and then it's possible to buy more locally. Depending on the group and how we're all feeling we'll either eat out, eat in resort, in the chalet or maybe BBQ, but we'll fine turn that down there. There's towels, hair dryers and all kitchen utensils at The Olde House.

£ 349.00 each

Testimonials

I've just got back from the first post-course sail (I was away at the weekend) and I wanted to drop you a line to say how much my tacks have improved. I got round about 50% of them, which is waaaay better than I've ever managed before! Still a long way to go, but the afternoon course has made a massive difference; thank you. Looking forwards to Egypt

Graeme Burton

"Wow what a weekend! I learnt so many techniques, from rigging in a better way, how my stance should be for the varying conditions and various manoeuvres, just how far to lean out, etc. etc."

Neil Mclauchlan

"I am well chuffed with what I achieved with your help and I came away from the course with all boxes ticked. I'm not exaggerating when I say that you completely transformed my sailing from someone who was nowhere near the straps on a 145l board to someone who was flying around, fully committed in the harness, feet in both straps on a 113l board and feeling pretty relaxed about the whole thing. The course was exactly the right balance of talk, analysis, demo and doing - it exceeded my every expectation and I will definitely be back. All I did was turn up, listen to what you told me to do and things just clicked into place – brilliant!"

Ty Owen

Thanks again for some fantastic advice and training in Grafham. The fast tack is ace

Graham O'Riley

"Thanks for a great couple of days training. I really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. We were so lucky with the conditions. I feel as if I now know what to do when tacking - although need to spend more time practising. The early planning instruction definitely helped. And I made progress with the gybing rig rotation - keeping the clew upwind and 'kissing the guns' definitely my gybes at the end of the afternoon."
